Room C is an Imagination Choreography designed for eight visitors, featuring eight distinct audio tracks that guide participants through a shared yet deeply personal journey.
The work emerged as an artistic reflection on a severe accident that left Heremans with no memory of the event. By gathering witness statements, he reconstructed the experience through imagination, revealing how our minds become a nest where reality, fantasy, memory, and fiction intertwine.
Eight participants enter the room and stand on white crosses marked on the floor. Through headphones, they receive instructions to close their eyes and visualize specific scenarios—some abstract, others deeply intimate. Occasionally, participants are prompted to open their eyes and shift positions, leading to unplanned encounters with others. These subtle movements create a choreography shaped by the interaction between presence and imagination.
As the piece unfolds, Room C becomes a moving composition, balancing introspection with collective experience. For observers, the room transforms into a living installation—participants quietly navigating the boundaries between their own minds and the shared space around them. In this dynamic exchange, memory, time, and perception blur, inviting each visitor to engage with the work from their own unique perspective.
